Submissions for the 11th edition of Bucharest International Dance Film Festival are now open! Filmmakers, dance artists, animators, visual artists and digital art makers are invited to submit their works for the International Short Film Competition of the festival set to take place between September 11–14, 2025, under the theme “Keep Calm and Keep On Moving”. For the first time, BIDFF is also looking for VR experiences that use movement as their main language or the body as their main subject.

BUCHAREST: Romanian film writer and director Ioana Mischie is currently in post-production with the long-awaited debut feature film, CATANE, an absurd comedy that reveals both a highly stylized artistic voice and an audience-friendly delight. Previously described by Damon Wise from Variety as “a social-realist drama with a darkly humorous bent” in its earlier development stages, the film promises to blend profoundly poetic and narrative layers into a thought-provoking rollercoaster. Its tone is unique in recent Romanian cinema.

The new short animated film by the Macedonian author Krste Gospodinovski, "Silent Cinema", produced by Focus Pocus Films, in co-production with Flip Book Productions and Opal Production, and supported by the Film Agency, will have its premiere in the official selection of this year's edition of the most prestigious and oldest animated film festival ‘Annecy’ in France. Out of 3900 films submitted from all continents, "Silent Cinema" will compete with another 70 films for one of the most important awards in the world of animation. The success of the team led by Gospodinovski represents a significant step forward for the Macedonian auteur animation, as this is the first Macedonian film since "Adam" by Petar Gligorovski from 1977 to be included in the official selection of the festival.

The most compelling Romanian films of the past year will be screened at the 24th edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival, in the much-anticipated Romanian Days section. In addition to the competition, the program presents world premieres and acclaimed Romanian productions from the past year, screened out of competition.

CLUJ-NAPOCA: Six of the eight long films selected for the Competition of the Romanian Film Days section at the 24th Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) are documentaries. Twenty films have been selected for the Short Film Competition.
