Nu Boyana to finance Bulgarian student films

By

Bulgaria's Nu Boyana Studios has signed a cooperation agreement with the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) under which it will provide €35,000 to finance student films made at the academy.

Nu Boyana will also organize workshops and seminars to support the education of film arts students, according to Novonite.com, the website of the Sofia News Agency.

The agreement was signed April 3 by Nu Boyana chairman David Varod and NATFA rector Stanislav Semerdzhiev. It is the second such agreement after a pact signed in 2007 under which Nu Boyana financed more than 40 students projects.

Nu Boyana was created in 2005 when the Los Angeles-based film production and distribution firm Nu Image bid $9.2 million for control of Bulgaria's Boyana studios, which was established in the early 1960s.
