TBILISI: Marisa Romanov, an American series produced by Noirtainment Film and Television Production Company, is set to be shot in Georgia and already applied for the tax incentive scheme.

The series following an American journalist who is looking for her roots in Georgia is based on a homonym short film selected for the Official Short Films selection of the Venice Film Festival. Miranda K. Spigener, who directed the short film is also creating and will direct the series, which went into production in 2015 and is set to be largely filmed in Tbilisi.

According to Agenda.ge, representatives of Noirtainment confirmed that they already applied for the tax incentive scheme. Marisa Romanov might be one of the first projects benefitting from the tax rebate system launched in Georgia in early 2016, offering a 20% cash rebate of qualified expenditure with an additional rebate of 2-5% based on the promotional value of the production.
