PRODUCTION: Do You Love Me in production

By

VILNIUS: Lithuanian young generation director Lina Lužytė is working on her debut feature film Do You Love Me? (Ar tu mane myli?).

The film is a story of a seemingly nice family consisting of a mother, father and 11-year-old daughter, but the main “character” of the film is their relationship. Rather than living together, they just exist next to each other. One day an explosion of a water pipe floods their downstairs neighbors’ apartment and the minor technical problem turns into a vital challenge for the family.

“When starting to develop this story my initial intention was to take a close look at my own family, which, though always nice outwardly, seemed more and more sadistic from my current perspective. Later on, while further developing the script, I noticed that most of the people I know have similar experiences: some in the roles of victims, others as perpetrators – or so it seemed,” Lužytė said.

Do You Love Me? is a Lithuanian/French/Romanian coproduction. It is produced by the Lithuanian company Just a moment, through managing producer Dagnė Vildžiūnaitė, along with the Romanian company LTD Alien Film through managing producer Iuliana Tarnovetchi, and SARL Arizona Productions of France managing producer Dany de Seille.

The Lithuanian Film Center supported the film with a 750,000 Litas grant in 2014. In 2013 the project received 150,000 Litas for development. The budget is 500,000 EUR.

The international premiere will be in 2015 or 2016.
