Two Riversides Festival kicks off with Polish premier of new Dardenne Brothers film

    WARSAW: The year’s edition of Two Riversides Film Festival will kick off with the Polish premier of the new Dardenne Brothers film The Kid With a Bike which received the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. The festival is held from 30 July-7 August 2011 (www.dwabrzegi.pl) in the Polish town of Kazimierz Dolny and hosted by Polish TV star Grazyna Torbicka.

    This year’s edition of Two Riversides will be opened by the Polish premiere of “The Kid With A Bike,” the newest film by the Dardenne brothers, for which they received the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival.

    The festival gives visitors a chance to see the best films from screened in Venice, San Sebastian, Rotterdam, Berlin, Cannes, Transilvania, Riga, Portoroz, Ljubljana, Black Nights, Bratislava as well as the ones held in Poland: Koszalin, Gdynia, Krakow.

    This year’s edition also features a homage to Polish actor Zbigniew Zamachowski who stared in Krzysztof Kieslowski’s Three Colours trilogy as well as many other films. Other retrospectives include the films of Roberto Rossellini and Andrzej Kondratiuk. A competition of independent short films and a series of concerts and art exhibitions will round out the programme.
