PRODUCTION: Cezary Pazura prepares his directing debut

    Popular Polish actor/singer/comic Cezary Pazura debuts as a director and producer in his comedy titled Weekend.

    Weekend covers three days in life of Max and Gula, lovers of "easy living". The main characters will by played by Paweł Małaszyński and Michał Lewandowski. The story will explore the big city life evolving around sketchy business dealings, big money and beautiful women. The all-star Polish cast includes Paweł Wilczak, Olaf Lubaszenko, Andrzej Andrzejewski and Małgorzata Socha.

    The production is Cezar 10, a company founded by Cezary Pazura. The movie is co-produced by Polsat Television (www.polsat.pl). Cezar 10 informed FNE that the shoot for Weekend will start April 20 in Wrocław and will move on to Łódź in May through June. The producer is in the middle of sigining a contract with ITI Cinema (www.iticinema.com.pl) to distribute the film.The planned budget of the production is 6.5 million PLN ( €1.6 million ) with a 1 million PLN grant from the Polish Film Institute ( www.pisf.pl).

    Pazura is most popular for his appearences in Dogs by Władysław Pasikowski, the hit comedy Killer by Juliusz Machulski and Boys Don't Cry by Olaf Lubaszenko. His is the laurate of two Prizes for the Best Supporting Actor during the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia for his roles in Kroll by Władysław Pasikowski and Dad by Maciej Ślesicki. He was also awarded with three Polish Ducks, the oldest Polish film prizes, as the Best Actor in the years 1993, 1997 and 2003.

    The premiere of Weekend is planned for January 2011.
