PRODUCTION: Lubaszenko Filming Blow Follow-up

By Katarzyna Grynienko

Polish actor/director/producer Olaf Lubaszenko is near the completion of filming A Moment of Carelessness, or A Second Blow (Chwila nieuwagi, czyli drugi sztos), the sequel to his 1997 directing debut Blow. The earlier film was a swift-moving comic crime film of Poland in the 1970's. The sequel picks up in 1981 when martial law was introduced in Poland, changing the daily reality for the Polish people.

Blow, the Polish hit film Killer directed by Juliusz Machulski in the same year, and Lubaszenko's later hit Boys Don't Cry (2000) are considered to be milestones for Polish comedy, starting a new wave of modern productions combining dark humor with the crime genre, which is popular with Polish audiences.

The film is currently shooting in Pomeranian Sopot, with an earlier Warsaw shoot completed in December 2010. The crew will travel to Zakopane at the end of February and go into post production soon afterwards. The premiere planned for the second half of 2011.

The all star cast includes Cezary Pazura, Borys Szyc, Bogusław Linda and Bartłomiej Topa. Pazura is also the producer of the picture with his company Cezar 10 (www.cezar10.pl).

The film will be distributed by Poland's ITI Cinema (www.iticinema.com.pl).
