By Katarzyna Grynienko

Polish director Leszek Dawid had started shooting You Are God (Jesteś Bogiem), a drama about legendary Polish rapers, on 22 February 2011. The film is based on a true story of Paktofonika, one of the bands that defined Polish rap and hip hop music in the 1990's.

Filming began in the town of Bogucice in Silesia. The crew will move to Mikołajewo in April 2011.

The film is produced by Studio Filmowe KADR ( www.sfkadr.com ) with a budget of 4.6 million PLN. The subject matter falls in line with the latest projects of Studio Filmowe KADR, which is exploring the problems of the younger generation of Poles, in films such as Suicide Room directed by Jan Komasa that recently screened in Berlin.

The film is directed by Leszek Dawid, whose credits include the award winning short feature Bal na Victorii and a feature debut Ki already in post-production. The script for You Are God was written by Maciej Pisuk, after two years of extensive research on Paktofonika. The cinematographer is Radosław Ładczuk, who recently worked on Suicide Room. The members of the musical group are played by Tomasz Schuhhardt, Marcin Kowalczyk and Dawid Ogrodnik.

The film received financial support from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) and the Silesian Film Fund (www.silesiafilm.com.pl).
