The miniseries is produced by Leslie Greif and Thinkfactory Media (www.thinkfactorymedia.com) for the History Channel (www.history.com), with the Romania's Castel Film (www.castelfilm.ro) providing services. Ronald Parker and Ted Mann wrote the script.
The Hatfields and McCoys stars Kevin Costner, Bill Paxton, Tom Berenger, Powers Boothe and Mare Winningham. Costner and Paxton are Anse Hatfield and Randall McCoy, the members of two opposite clans whose hostilities nearly launched a war between the states of West Virginia and Kentucky, a few years after the Civil War.
Shooting takes place entirely in Romania. The TV release is scheduled for 2012, the 150th anniversary of the infamous family feud.
