BUCHAREST: Anca Damian (Crulic – The Path to Beyond, Aparte Film) is in preparation with the feature film Moon Hotel Kabul, a Romanian/French coproduction set to be shot in Romania and Morocco in August-September 2016. The film received Eurimages support in the grants round announced on 28 June.

The main character of the film is Ivan Semciuc, a cynical journalist. A seemingly meaningless rendezvous in a hotel room in Kabul with Ioana (a translator, who is not, at least at first, remarkable in any way) produces a vital revolution in Ivan's unshakeable process of living. They spend a night of conversation and sex, and after Ivan's arrival back in Bucharest, Ioana is found dead, with her wrists cut. Lia Bugnar and Damian wrote the script.

Damian is producing through Aparte Film in coproduction with Tom Dercourt and Sophie Erbs through France’s Cinema Defacto. The project has received support from the Romanian National Cinema Center, and the MEDIA Programme. The budget is 729,832 EUR, Damian told FNE.

The cast and DoP are not disclosed yet. Romain Trouillet will compose the original music. The premiere is set for 2018.
