PORTOROŽ: A total of 98 out of 167 submitted films have been selected for the 19th Slovenian Film Festival, which will run from 13 to 18 September 2016 in Portorož. The number of submissions was again higher than last year and set a new record with 21 submitted titles more than in 2015.

Altogether 98 films (52 in the competition and 46 out of the competition) will be screened in the two venues (Main Hall, Amphitheatre) at Avditorij Portorož.  Fourteen films will compete for the Vesna awards: ten feature films and four long documentaries, among them Nightlife by Damjan Kozole, who recently won the Best Director Prize at the 51st Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and Houston, We Have a problem! by Žiga Virc, an unexpected success in the Slovenian box office with almost 18,000 admissions.

Some of the feature competition films have already been released in Slovenian cinemas, but Nika by Slobodan Maksimović is set for October, Nightlife for November, Come Along by Igor Šterk for December 2016 and Comedy of Tears by Marko Sosič for January 2017.
