RIGA: Nine titles from Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Ukraine, and Sweden have been chosen for the Feature Film Competition of the upcoming Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 16 – 26 October 2025).

BUCHAREST: The 21st Bucharest International Film Festival (BIFF, 19 – 28 September 2025) is launching an international short film competition alongside its traditional feature film competition, and welcomes renown guests such as Sergei Loznitsa and Nadav Lapid.

SKOPJE: The Tale of Silyan / Siljan by Tamara Kotevska has been chosen as the Macedonian candidate for the 98th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category. The film is a coproduction between the USA, UK, and North Macedonia.

In 2026, we will mark the 30th anniversary of the Sofia International Film Festival and we are dedicated to making this edition outstanding. The festival will take place from 12 to 22 March 2026 in Sofia, with additional programmе scheduled to run through the end of March in Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, and Varna.

TALLINN: The Estonian Film Institute has selected the long animated film Long Papers / Pikad paberid by Meel Paliale as Estonia’s candidate for the 98th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category.

ZAGREB: The Croatian Society of Film Workers has selected the documentary Fiume o morte! by Igor Bezinović as Croatia’s candidate for the 98th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category. The film is a coproduction between Croatia, Italy and Slovenia.

BUCHAREST: The Romanian Film Centre (CNC) has selected Traffic / Jaful secolului by Teodora Ana Mihai as Romania’s candidate for the 98th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category.

The epicenter of the Riga International Film Festival (RIGA IFF, 16–26 October) is the RIGA IFF Feature Film Competition, which this year will have 9 selected features from Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Ukraine, and Sweden competing for the festival’s main prize. Screenings at cinema Splendid Palace will welcome audiences to emotionally intense documentary and fiction films, exquisite examples of auteur cinema, and expressive human stories, representing different film movements, traditions, and screen languages.
