PRODUCTION: Green Dog in Development

    ZAGREB: The Croatian company Kinorama (www.kinorama.hr) is developing a cinematic adaptation of the novel Green Dog written by Nada Mihelcic. No director is attached yet.

    Green Dog/ Zeleni pas is a tragiccomedy for teenagers about a colourful family confronted with the drug addiction that affecte the eldest daughter. Told from the point of view of the 13-year-old middle sister, the story "is a mixture of wit and humour played against the tragic background," producer Ivana Simic told FNE.

     

    She said that from a budget of 1,250,000 Euro, 45,000 Euro is already in place. Kinorama is the only production company involved at this time. The Croatian Audiovisual Center (www.havc.hr) gave the project a script development grant and MEDIA Program (ec.europa.eu/culture/media) gave the film development support. The rest of the money comes from the producer's own investment.

    Ivor Martinic wrote the first draft. The DOP is not yet confirmed. Shooting is planned for three weeks in August 2013 and another three weeks in November 2013. The film should be finished in April 2014.
