ZAGREB: The fourth season of HBO's fantasy adventure hit Game of Thrones is filming in the southern Dalmatian city of Dubrovnik and will continue in Split with Embassy Films providing facilities. The premiere is expected for the first half of 2014.

Shooting dates in Croatia are longer than for the previous two seasons: 20 August-20 September in Dubrovnik, and 20 September-10 October in Split, a new location for the series. Other locales are Iceland and Northern Ireland. Shooting should wrap at the end of 2013.

The cash rebate scheme guaranteeing the return of up to 20% of projects' qualifying expenditure was implemented in January 2012. The third season of Game of Thrones, one of its first beneficiaries, was shot in Dubrovnik last October. The series returns there after the successful use Dubrovnik, standing in for King's Landing, the capital of the Seven Kingdoms during the second and the third seasons.
