VALLETTA: The National Film Policy launched on 16 January 2016 sets local targets until 2020 aiming to maximize the potential of both Malta’s film servicing industry as well as the promising local film sector.

“A robust, long-term vision and strategy needs to be implemented, in order to ensure that Malta remains competitive and builds on the encouraging success it has achieved so far”, said the Minister of Tourism Dr. Edward Zammit Lewis.

The policy was put together by a committee, in collaboration with several institutions including Malta Film Commission, the University of Malta, Chamber of Commerce, Malta Audiovisual Association (MAVA), and the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA).
