WARSAW: Medics, a medical drama from TVN, has been acquired by Chinese station CCTV.

TVN reps told FNE that Medics is the second Polish production sold to China, following Recipe for Life bought by CCTV in 2012. CCTV is the biggest broadcaster in China, reaching over one billion viewers.

The medical drama takes place in the fictional hospital Copernicus located in Toruń and follows the lives of the medical team and individual cases of patients admitted to the facility. The show was created by Dorota Chamczyk, Justyna Stefaniak and Andrzej Staszczyk. The directors of the production are Filip Zylber and Marcin Wrona. The cast consists of several popular Polish actors including Magdalena Różczka, Paweł Małaszyński and Danuta Stenka.

The series is produced by TVN and premiered on 3 September 2012. Due to the popularity of the first and second season of the show TVN decided to continue production with two consecutive seasons that will premiere in fall 2013 and spring 2014.
