Polish Cinemas Received Europa Cinemas Funding

    WARSAW: Europa Cinemas granted 370,000 EUR in financing to 24 Polish cinemas in the Europa Cinemas network.

    The Polish Film Institute reports that cinemas located in Poland received high marks for their programmes and overall promotion of European cinema as well as educational activity, repertoire diversity and digital equipment. The best Polish cinemas  within the Europa Cinemas network are Muranów (Warsaw), Kinoteka (Warsaw), Pod Baranami (Cracow), Gdańsk Film Center and Sokół (Nowy Sącz). In 2012. 35.5 million cinema tickets were sold in Poland with two Polish film in the top five: You Are God by Leszek Dawid (over 1.42 million) and In Darkness by Agnieszka Holland (1.2 million) .

    Europa Cinemas is the first film theater network devoted to promotion of European films and was established in 1992 with the support of the MEDIA programme and the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée.
