TVP Records Profits in 2013

WARSAW: Polish public broadcaster TVP made a profit of 8.8 m PLN profit in the first five months of 2013, significantly surpassing the station's results from
previous years.



    TVP told FNE that the income generated from
subscriptions between January and May of 2013 was 190 m PLN,
which is 24% (34.7 m PLN) more than the station made for the same period in 2012.
The income from advertising for the same period in 2013 was 
368 million PLN, an increase of 10.8% over 2012, taking the station out of
recession in the advertising department. The broadcaster also noted an 11 % increase
in profits coming from other sources, at 23.8 million PLN.



    TVP decreased the costs of the company's operation by 51.5 million
PLN in comparison with 2012. The broadcaster had also managed to spend 5.4
million PLN less than it was planned for the first half of 2013. In
view of these results, TVP plans to achieve positive financial results
at the end of 2013. "Various activities initiated and carried out
consistently by the company's management were confirmed by the
continuing upward trend in subscriptions and they allow us maintain the
forecast of exceeding our expectations for 2013 by a few million PLN," a TVP spokesperson
told FNE.
