PRODUCTION: Polish Comics in Film Version of Swing

    GDAŃSK: Abelard Giza has begun shooting Swing, a comedy based on a hit Polish theater play, with a talented cast including Polish cabaret and stand-up comedy actors.

    Swing is a classic comedy of mishaps, where lies and misunderstandings spiral out of control and cause problems for two couples tangled in a crazy idea to explore group sex. The script is based on a theather play written by the director which has been a regional hit in Pomeranian theaters since 2008. The cast includes Julia Kamińska, a popular actress know for her lead in the Polish remake of the Ugly Betty series; Kacper Ruciśki, a higly praised and awarded stand-up comedian; Szymon Jachimek and Ewa Błachnio, actors and LIMO Cabaret stars; and Karolina Wróbel, an actress originally cast in the theater version of the play.

    Giza is a frequently awarded Polish director, screenwriter and comedy writer. He was awarded the Distinction Prize during the 2007 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia for his film W stepie szerokim. He is creating Swing with the help of Grupa IMPACT, a duo of film professionals Michał Gioew and Marcin Brach, responsible for the production of Giza's two previous films as well as several popular LIMO Cabaret short films presented via YouTube (7 million visits). The producer is Tomasz Łukasziewicz and his company Lukas Film (www.lukasfilm.pl).

    The producer told FNE that shooting will last till the end of February 2011 in Gdańsk and the premiere is planned for the second half of 2011.
