FNE at Transilvania IFF 2019 Pitch Stop: Oceane

By

CLUJ-NAPOCA: Transilvania IFF's director Tudor Giurgiu wore his film producer hat for the fifth edition of Transilvania Pitch Stop taking place at the festival which runs through 9 June 2019. Giurgiu’s company Libra Films and film director Eva Pervolovici presented their project Oceane. Four Romanian and Moldovan films were among the projects competing for prizes that included 50,000 EUR in development/production support.

The film is the director’s second feature. It is a coming of age story of a 17-year-old Parisienne girl (Oceane), who falls in love with a Romanian photographer having an exhibit in Paris. The next year she comes to Bucharest to move into his apartment as a sub-letter, unbeknownst to him. This sweet stalker befriends the photographer’s family, but in Bucharest she also meets another young Romanian man, Alex, and falls in love with him. A series of misfortunes ends up with Alex rejecting her and Oceane returning to Paris. The next summer she heads for Bucharest again, this time to find Alex.

The producers are looking for a French coproducer. The film has a completed first draft of the script and received development funding from the Romanian Film Centre.
