Idyll plays with the genre pattern of a horrifying confrontation between the rural and the urban and as an action horror film with the potential to contribute to the development of this unexplored genre in the Slovenian cinema.
The story is set in an idyllic landscape. After partying all night the fashion model Zina goes on a fashion photography show with three friends: the ambitious Mia, the apathetic Dragica and the snobbish photographer Blitcz. There they meet wacky locals but don’t pay any attention to them at first; however after a brutal attack this turns out to be a big mistake.
The film with the total budget of 420,000 EUR is produced by Zoran Dževerdanović through the Slovenian production company Blade Production in coproduction with Strup Produkcija and NuFrame. The film was made with the financial support in amount of 215,000 EUR from the Slovenian Film Centre and with the technical support of Viba Film and Fotoformat.
The film stars the well-known Slovenian actress Nina Ivanišin, a member of the Slovenian National Theatre Drama Ljubljana, who also appeared in Damjan Kozole’s Slovenian Girl (Vertigo, 2009) and Goran Vojnovič‘s Piran–Pirano (Arsmedia, 2010) . The cast includes Sebastian Cavazza, Lotos Vincenc Šparovec and the newcomer Nika Rozman.
The film was also presented by the Slovenian Film Centre in Le Marché du Film in Cannes Film Festival and will be released in the Slovenian cinemas by Karantanija on 1 October 2015.
