FNE at MIFF 2021: 43rd Moscow International Film Festival Announces Prize Winners As Physical Edition Wraps
Region 30-04-2021MOSCOW: The 43rd edition of the Moscow International Film Festival awarded its top prize for best film in the main competition to #dogpoopgirl (Romania) by Romanian director Andrei Hutuleac, who was in Moscow to collect the prize at the closing ceremony on 29 April. Romanian actress Andreea Gramosteanu also won the prize for Best Actress for her work on the film.
BERLIN: Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Radu Jude was awarded the Golden Bear at the 71st edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, which took place online 1-5 March 2021. The Hungarian films in the Competition, Natural Light by Dénes Nagy and Forest - I See You Everywhere by Bence Fliegauf were awarded for director and supporting performance, respectively. The Golden Bear for Short Film went to the Hungarian minority coproction My Uncle Tudor / Nanu Tudor directed by the Moldavian director Olga Lucovnicova.

Region 12-02-2021BERLIN: Two Hungarian films, Forest - I See You Everywhere by Bence Fliegauf and Natural Light by Dénes Nagy, as well as Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Romanian Radu Jude and What Do We See When We Look at the Sky? by Georgian Alexandre Koberidze, are among the 15 titles selected for the Competition of the 2021 Berlinale. Czech minority coproduction Je suis Karl by Christian Schwochow will screen in Berlinale Special.

VENICE: Director Noah Baumbach already has ten feature films to his credit so it is no surprise that this already accomplished and respected filmmaker has landed in the Venice competition with his latest offering Marriage Story. What is surprising is that this just might be his best film yet.
VENICE: American indie filmmaker James Gray is not the first name that springs to mind when you think of a Hollywood sci-fi blockbuster, but Ad Astra, which boasts Hollywood mega-star Brad Pitt in the leading role, is an accomplished film with enough artistic backbone to score a slot in the main competition in Venice.
VENICE: Nomadland (USA) directed by Chloé Zhao (USA) was awarded the top prize in the main competition of 77th Venice Film Festival, which took place from 2 to 12 September 2020. The Italian festival on the Venice Lido was the first major film event to take place on site since the global COVID pandemic shut down film festivals, cinemas and events around the world in early March this year.
