This year, the 13th edition of the Baltic Pitching Forum (BPF) welcomed filmmaking talents from the Baltic countries and Hungary to the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius on 7-10 October. Pitching twelve projects to key industry figures, alongside participating in a series of talks, lectures, and training sessions, the selected filmmakers benefited from the Forum, which continues to be regarded as the most important short film industry event in the Baltic region.

BELGRAD: David Jovanović’s sophomore feature Sun Never Again / Sunce nikad više has been selected as Serbia’s candidate for the 98th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category.

The 8th edition of the established industry event European Work in Progress (EWIP) culminated in a festive award ceremony on the evening of October 30th at its new location in Hamburg. In cooperation with FILMFEST HAMBURG and MOIN Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, EWIP took place for the first time as part of FILMFEST HAMBURG INDUSTRY DAYS. During the two days of EWIP, around 300 high-profile colleagues from the European film industry (world sales, distribution, festivals, production, financing and marketing) met up to look for the most promising film projects of the coming months and to exchange ideas. The independent international jury of renowned and highly experienced experts – Rémi Bigot (Semaine de la Critique / Cannes Film Festival), Maren Schmitt (producer of IN DIE SONNE SCHAUEN), Simon Ofenloch (Arte Film Productions), Beatrice Gulino (Teodora Film Distribution), Yuan Sui (Picture Tree International) and Aaron Kassaye (Ethiopian film distributor) – selected the award winner from among the 27 international film projects presented and awarded prizes totalling 140,000 euros.

TBILISI: Mamuka Bliadze has been appointed as the head of the Georgian National Film Center (GNFC), Georgia’s key institution for supporting national cinema, developing international coproductions, and preserving the country’s film heritage.

VILNIUS: The TV series A Wolf’s Prey directed and written by popular Lithuanian director Emilis Velyvis has been picked up by American AGC Television.

The Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) is set to showcase a provocative selection of debut feature films this year. A total of 13 films will compete for the Best Debut Film Award, including 9 world premieres and 4 international premieres. All of the authors will be present in Tallinn.

The first ever short film forums and markets’ meeting will take place during renowned industry event Baltic Pitching Forum this week, from 8-10 October in Vilnius, Lithuania.

The 35th FilmFestival Cottbus (5–9 November 2025) expands its programme with two newly curated sections.
