LIMASSOL: The 13th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus, which will be held in Limassol 7 - 13 October 2023, will screen 45 films in the International Competition and 11 films in the National Competition.

SERBIA:  The premiere of the TV series “Mind Tunnel” / Tunel, directed by Petar Ristovski and produced by Telekom Srbija and Zillion film, is planned for the 11th of November, 2023.

BERLIN: The European Film Academy has announced a new selection of 21 feature films adding to the Feature Film Selection for the European Film Awards 2023.

WARSAW: The winners of the 3rd edition of Heart of Europe International Television Festival were announced in Warsaw on 28 September 2023. The festival organised by the Polish Television (TVP, 25 – 28 September 2023) also hosted the 2nd edition of the Heart of Europe Forum.

WARSAW: The Peasants / Chłopi directed by DK Welchman (aka Dorota Kobiela) and Hugh Welchman has been selected as Poland’s candidate for the 96th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category. The film is a coproduction between Poland, Lithuania and Serbia.

BRATISLAVA: The documentary Photophobia directed by Ivan Ostrochovský and Pavol Pekarčík has been selected as Slovakia’s candidate for the 96th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences award in the Best International Feature Film category. Photophobia is a coproduction between Slovakia, Czech Republic and Ukraine.

SAN SEBASTIAN: Nataša Bučar, Chris Marchich and Edith Sepp were elected for the new board of EFAD (European Film Agency Directors association) during the General Assembly meeting organised in San Sebastian on 25 September 2023.

BUDAPEST: Hungarian media and social networks are busy reporting that Johnny Depp is currently shooting in Hungary Modi, a film about Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, in which Budapest stands in for Paris in the 1910s. The Hungarian shooting of the film starring Riccardo Scamarcio, Pierre Niney and Al Pacino is handled by Proton Cinema.

POTSDAM: A three-day workshop on sustainable business strategies, an online conference on the legal and ethical aspects of AI, a seminar for streaming providers, and a three-day workshop on European coproduction are the upcoming events organised by Potsdam-based Erich Pommer Institute.
