VARNA: Stephan Komandarev’s Blaga’s Lessons and Dyad by Yana Titova shared Best Film Award at the 41st Golden Rose National Film Festival, which was held in Varna 20 - 28 September 2023.

SOFIA: Bulgarian director Stanislav Donchev is currently shooting his fourth feature film Before I Forget with support from the Bulgarian National Film Centre. Donchev’s production company Dynamic Arts, which is behind the project, is open to coproducers and sales companies.

VARNA: A total of 12 feature films, 25 short fiction films and three fiction TV series will screen in the three official competitions of the 41st Golden Rose National Film Festival (20 - 28 September 2023).

SOFIA: Bulgarian director/producer Boris Despodov is in postproduction with his new documentary The Sinner and the Saint. This Bulgarian/German/Serbian coproduction has been selected for the CineLink Work in Progress 2023, which will be held within the 29th Sarajevo Film Festival (11 – 18 August 2023).

SOFIA: Bulgarian director Dimitar Kotzev is in postproduction with his third feature film The Answer to All Questions, which he is independently producing through Kontraplan. An Indiegogo fundraising campaign launched to support the project is currently underway.

SOFIA: The Bulgarian National Film Center has allocated 2,435,000 EUR to six feature film projects in the first production call of 2023. The grants have not been distributed because of an ongoing court appeal.

SOFIA: Bulgarian director Yana Lekarska has just finished shooting her first feature film Because I Love Bad Weather, for which the production company Invictus Ltd is open to coproducers.

SOFIA: Boyko Boyanov is currently in production with his debut feature Class 90, supported by the Bulgarian National Film Center. The production company Miramar Film is open to coproducers at the postproduction stage and ready to start communicating with sales agents.

SOFIA: Tatyana Pandurska will start shooting her debut feature Wild Strawberries on 7 July 2023. The film is inspired by Ekaterina Tomova’s book Forgotten by the Heavens, which is a collection of life stories of centenarians from the Rhodope Mountains, recorded in the 1970s.

SOFIA: The Art of Falling by Оrlin Milchev received the Best Feature Film Award at the closing ceremony of the second edition of the National Film Festival “Vasil Gendov” - Union of Bulgarian Filmmakers Awards.
