PRODUCTION: DonT Stop Begins Production

By FNE Staff

PRAGUE: DonT Stop, a Czech-Slovak coproduction directed by Richard Řeřicha and produced by Evolution Films (www.evolutionfilms.cz), began a six week shoot on 7 May 2011. The 800,000 euro film is scheduled to complete production on 14 June.

The story of two friends who escape the boredom of their daily lives by starting a punk rock band is set in Prague in 1983 amidst the Communist-imposed period of "normalization" and the suffocating atmosphere under the rule of the secret police. The story, which Řeřicha also wrote, is based on personal experiences.

Ondřej Zima produces for Evolution Films. DonT Stop is coproduced by HBO Czech Republic (Prague), UPP (Prague), Bystrouska (Prague) and FilmFrame (Bratislava). The film is funded by the State Fund for the Support and Development of Czech Cinema, Program for Support of the Film Industry and the Slovak Audiovisual Fund. The film's funding is 80% Czech and 20% Slovak.

Postproduction is due to be completed by December 2011, with a theatrical release in the Czech Republic in June 2012.
