Radosław Śmigulski Dismissed as Director of Polish Film Institute

    WARSAW: Radosław Śmigulski has been dismissed from his position of the director of the Polish Film Institute (PISF), as Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, announced on 11 April 2024. Kamila Dorbach has been appointed as acting director of PISF.

    According to Sienkiewicz, Śmigulski's dismissal is a strategic decision, aimed at initiating a new phase in the Institute's operations. With Kamila Dorbach at the helm, PISF is looking towards a new chapter, guided by a commitment to advancing the interests of Polish cinema on both national and international platforms.

    “As a lawyer and an attorney she is well acquainted with this environment.(...) We will start the competition for the position of director of the Polish Film Institute as soon as possible”, Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz said during a press conference on 11 April 2024.
