By Iulia Blaga

The 2008 Golden Bear winner for the short film A Good Day For A Swim/ O zi bună de plajă is in development with his first feature, Wolf/Lupu, a surrealist horror film about a boy whose absent father is literally reborn and joins his family again.

Wolf is written and directed by Bogdan Mustaţă and produced by Marcian Lazăr and Strada Film (www.stradafilm.ro). Discussions with foreign coproducers and distributor are in progress. The budget is 900,000 euro. The preliminary shooting dates are April 30 - May 10, 2011, taking place entirely in Bucharest. The local premiere is planned for March 15, 2012.

The project has been selected to the Sundance Screenwriters Lab (www.sundance.org), June 20-25, 2010, and will also participate at the Torino Film Lab Development Program (www.torinofilmlab.it) in autumn. Mustaţă also received a Nipkow fellowship (www.nipkow.de) to develop his project in Berlin for 4 months. The project was pitched at Connecting Cottbus (www.connecting-cottbus.de) in 2009 and will participate to Cinelink (www.sff.ba/en/cinelink) at Sarajevo FF. The producer has applied for a MEDIA support (ec.europa.eu) and will soon apply for a grant from the Romanian National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro).

Bogdan Mustaţă graduated the Romanian National Film School (www.unatc.ro) in 2001, and lived in Vietnam and Dubai where he directed television series and commercials before making A Good Day For a Swim, also for Strada Film.
