The film's working title, September 11, refers not to the terrorist attacks of 2001, but rather the Battle of Vienna which took place on 11 and 12 of September 1683 after Vienna had been besieged by the Ottoman Empire for two months.
Shooting will start in April and is not expected to wrap until summer, with the epic requiring a large scale production. The film is produced by Renzo Martinelli and Martinelli Film (www.martinellifilm.it). Castel Film is providing facilities.
According to the Romanian producer Tandem Film (www.tandemfilm.com), Keitel is expected to shoot another film in Romania this year: Bogdan Dumitrescu Dreyer's So I Say, in May-June.
