BRATISLAVA: Slovak production company Furia Film is in production with the feature film Diary of Agatha Schindler, which depicts fragments of the lives of four Jewish musicians who were deported to concentration camps just their promising artistic careers were on the rise.

The Czech director of the Slovak/Czech coproduction is Zdeněk Jiráský, whose film Poupata was awarded four Czech Lions in 2012: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Cinematography.

Strong suggestive images and music stylization are dominant in this project, contrasting glorious success and social prestige with the later humiliation, suffering and loss of human dignity. Music and interior monologues form a strong line throughout the film.

Producer Lívia Filusová said: "This project is very unique in the context of Slovak filmmaking. It provides a powerful emotional experience and it will move outside of the content of contemporary Slovak cinema."

The budget of the film is 380,000 EUR, supported by the Slovak Audivisual Fund in the amount of 130,000 EUR and co-produced by Czech Television and Slovak public broadcaster RTVS.

The release is scheduled for May 2014.
