This year, KVIFF is expanding its range to include new trends combining various areas of the audiovisual industry. To this end, the festival’s Special Screenings section will show the world premiere of a cinematic cut of Warhorse Studios’ internationally successful video game – Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Cinematic Cut.

CANNES: Discover the Romanian showcase Connect Ideas in New Ways, organised by Creative Romanian Film Makers at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity (16 - 20 June 2025).

PODGORICA: The 16th edition of the UnderhillFest international documentary film festival opened on 11 June 2025, in the Njegošev park in Podgorica, with the premiere of the long documentary Vud, You Won / Vude, ti si pobijedio directed by Senad Šahmanović and supported by the Film Centre of Montenegro.

The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is proud to screen a newly restored version of Miloš Forman’s cinematic landmark One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest as part of this year’s “Out of the Past” section. The 1975 classic, which swept the Oscars and earned dozens of international awards, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Michael Douglas, one of the film’s producers and recipient of the Academy Award for Best Picture, will personally introduce the restored version at a special gala screening. He will be joined by fellow producer Paul Zaentz—nephew of the late Saul Zaentz, who co-produced the film, as well as members of Miloš Forman’s family.

ANNECY: The Black Sea Animation Shorts project presentation will take place on 12 June 2025 in the Berlioz Room at the Imperial Palace. Organised as part of the Partner Pitches at the Annecy International Animation Festival’s Market (MIFA), the event is open to all accredited badgeholders, and it will showcase five short animation projects from emerging talents across the Black Sea Region.

The 2025 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival’s Industry Days programme, which will take place from Sunday, July 6 to Wednesday, July 9 – adding an additional full day of activities – will offer a lot of significant innovations, including a sharpened focus on Central European co-production opportunities in an updated showcase format of its KVIFF Eastern Promises platform. The extended programme broadens its scope with new presentations and events dedicated to the small-screen and series development. Supported by a new partnership with Central European Media Enterprises Ltd. (CME), an entertainment company and broadcaster, the festival introduces a Pop-Up Series Incubator featuring five original European series. The aim is to establish Karlovy Vary as a hub for co-productions and creative collaborations across diverse narrative forms.

ZAGREB: Australian Memoir of a Snail by Adam Elliot won the award for the Best Long Animated Film at Animafest Zagreb, held 2 – 7 June 2025. The short film competition was won by the German film Dull Spots of Greenish Colours by Sasha Svirsky.
