WARSAW: Blue Notebook, a documentary directed by Natasza Ziółkowska-Kurczuk about 20th century classical Polish composer Witold Lutosławski, is currently in production.

The documentary is produced by Aurum Film.

The documentary combines two points of view on Lutosławski. “First, a classical one is based on memories. Experts on Lutosławski’s compositions, music buffs, artists and performers, colleagues, family and friends trace the motions of his life and inspirations. On the side are interviews (shot using greenbox), that will be animated sequences in reference to a profile of the artist,” Aurum Film’s Zuzanna Pawłowska told FNE. “The second narrative part is factual and self-referential. It is a story of a well-known, contemporary musician (the great Polish composer Leszek Możdżer) exploring a picture of the composer and his notes.”

The documentary will be shot on location in Poland, Switzerland and Norway.

Blue Notebook received financial support from the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of "Lutosławski 2013 – Promise."

Its premiere is tentatively scheduled for December 2013.
