“The Fox is based on a novella by D.H. Lawrence, one of the most important European authors of the 20th century. It is set during the 1st World War. The script author, Sebastian Bleyl moved the plot from rural England to Lower Silesia, an area, which now belongs to Poland, but was German back then. The story of a love triangle is universal and we have secured stellar cast and a director, whose film Pingpong was a sensation at Cannes 2006,” producer Kasia Skibińska told FNE.
The film is produced by Skibinska for Braidmade Films PL and Oliver Damian's Berlin based 27 Films Production. Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Mitteldeutsche Medienfoerderung and the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl) are supported the project during its development stage.
Cinematographer Joanna Dylewska will shoot The Fox, and the costume designer is Katarzyna Lewinska. Both worked with Agnieszka Holland on her Oscar nominated In Darkness (2011). The production designer is Joanna Macha and make up designer is Anna Nobel-Nobielska, who worked together on Jan Jakub Kolski's Venice. The international cast includes Polish and German actors Agata Buzek (Reverse, Wałęsa), Hannah Herzsprung (Four Minutes) and Frederick Lau (The Wave).
The Fox's German distributor is Polyband. The producers are in talks with numerous companies regarding world sales.
