BRATISLAVA: Ten titles have been selected for Meeting Point Europe, the main competition of the 21st IFF Cinematik Piešťany, which will take place in the Slovak spa city of Piešt'any from 8 to 13 September 2026.
PRODUTION: Slovak Directors Lukáš Hanulák and Matúš Krajnak Shoot Psychological Drama Miniseries on Alcoholism
Slovakia 20-08-2026BRATISLAVA: Slovak directors Lukáš Hanulák and Matúš Krajňák are currently in production with an 8-episode TV miniseries called Drink Up! / Do dna! (working title), a psychological drama about alcoholism. To capture accurate and precise details, screenwriter Richard Pupala spent some time undercover in rehab.
BRATISLAVA: Acclaimed Slovak director Peter Bebjak is currently developing a suspense thriller TV miniseries named Becoming Kafka. With the scriptwriter Jakub Režný they have written the first two scripts, and the remaining four will be completed by the end of 2026.
KOŠICE: Everytime by Austrian director Sandra Wollner won the Blue Angel in the International Competition of the 32nd Art Film Fest, while Supporting Role by Georgian director Ana Urushadze won the main prize in the Competition of Central and Eastern European Films.
BRATISLAVA: A feature-length film is in the making for the sci-fi short animated film Angel & Meow. The project started in 2023 as a proof of concept directed by Japanese Clemhyn Escosora and produced by Vlado Železňák through Slovakia’s GONG Art Company.
KOŠICE: The 32nd Art Film Fest has announced the lineup for its International Feature Film, Short Film, and Central and Eastern European Films competitions. The festival will take place in Košice from 19 to 25 June 2026.
BRATISLAVA: Slovak actor and director Marek Ťapák is currently in postproduction with his TV film Crying without Echo / Výkriky bez ozveny (working title), an adaptation of the eponymous short stories book by Slovak author Milo Urban.
BRATISLAVA: The Slovak Audiovisual Fund has distributed 2,271,440 m EUR through 2026 as production grants for feature films, medium and long documentaries, animated films, TV series, and minority coproductions.
BRATISLAVA: The traditional Slovak Film Week will squeeze this year into the Slovak Film Day, which will take place on 12 May 2026 at Kino Lumiere in Bratislava.
BRATISLAVA: The acclaimed Slovak filmmaker Mariana Čengel Solčanská has started shooting her new project, the historical drama Autobus (working title). The story set during the Slovak National Uprising (1944) is a reverence to the founding generation of Slovak theatre and cinema.
