BRATISLAVA: Acclaimed Slovak director Jonáš Karásek has started shooting his new comedy drama Dilemma / Dilema on 24 October 2026. The entire story unfolds within 24 hours, maintaining a unity of time and place.

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak documentary We Have to Survive / Musíme prežiť directed by Tomáš Krupa was sold by Taskovski Films to the Estonian Public Broadcasting (ERR). This coproduction between Slovakia, France, and Austria captures stories about climatic change impacts from four different corners of the world, while keeping the lowest possible Carbon footprint.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak social anthropologist and filmmaker Soňa G. Lutherová is currently shooting a documentary about the contemporary Slovak theatre and opera director Sláva Daubnerová. The film is a Slovak/Italian/Czech coproduction.

BRATISLAVA: Established Slovak documentary film director Pavol Barabáš is putting the finishing touches on his new documentary I Touched the Stone Age / Dotkolsomsa Doby kamennej, which he shot in Papua New Guinea.

BRATISLAVA: Martin Gonda’s Flood / Potopa received the IGRIC Award for Best Feature Film Released in Cinemas at the 37th edition of the IGRIC Awards, held in Bratislava on 18 September 2026.

PIEŠŤANY: The historical drama Fatherland / Ojczyzna directed by Paweł Pawlikowski received the Meeting Point Europe Award in the main competition of the 21st edition of the IFF Cinematik Piešťany, which took place in the spa city of Piešťany from 8 to 13 September 2026.

BRATISLAVA: Acclaimed Slovak director Jonáš Karásek and scriptwriter/lyricist Maroš Hečko are currently in postproduction with the musical comedy The World According to Adam / Svet podľa Adama, which is supported by Slovak Audiovisual Fund (AVF).

BRATISLAVA: Ten titles have been selected for Meeting Point Europe, the main competition of the 21^st IFF Cinematik Piešťany, which will take place in the Slovak spa city of Piešt'any from 8 to 13 September 2026.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak directors Lukáš Hanulák and Matúš Krajňák are currently in production with an 8-episode TV miniseries called Drink Up! / Do dna! (working title), a psychological drama about alcoholism. To capture accurate and precise details, screenwriter Richard Pupala spent some time undercover in rehab.

BRATISLAVA: Acclaimed Slovak director Peter Bebjak is currently developing a suspense thriller TV miniseries named Becoming Kafka. With the scriptwriter Jakub Režný they have written the first two scripts, and the remaining four will be completed by the end of 2026.
