LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Kukla finished shooting her debut feature Fantasy, a teenage drama based on her awarded short fiction film Sisters, produced by AAtalanta in 2021. Fantasy is a Slovenian/Macedonian coproduction.

WARSAW: Polish animation directors Marcin Wasilewski and Jacek Rokosz are currently in preparation with their long animated film The Shrew of Destiny / Ryjówka przeznaczenia. This Polish/Lithuanian coproduction is a moving story about one of the smallest animals inhabiting the Polish forests.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director/writer/producer Giedrė Žickytė is currently in postproduction with her long documentary Both of Your Mothers, which is a Lithuanian/Estonian/Bulgarian coproduction.

LJUBLJANA: Slovenian director Urša Menart started shooting her sophomore feature Everything That's Wrong with You / Vse, kar je narobe s tabo on 12 December 2023. The 30-day shooting of this Slovenian/Serbian/German/Croatian coproduction takes place in the Slovenian towns of Tolmin and Nova Gorica, as well as in Usedom (Germany).

PRAGUE: The Czech director/animator Šimon Koudela is currently in postproduction with his fantastic epic Fichtelberg, which is a combination of animation and live action. This Czech/Slovak coproduction will be distributed by CinemArt in the Czech Republic with the premiere planned for the spring of 2025.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian director/writer/DoP Bernadette Mayer is currently in production with her feature film I Never See You (working title) / Sose látlak. The project is a winner of the National Film Institute - Hungary’s Inkubator programme, which supports low budget debut features by young first time directors.

SKOPJE: Macedonian writer/director Georgi Unkovski is currently in postproduction with his debut feature DJ Ahmet, which is a coproduction between North Macedonia, the Czech Republic and Serbia.

PRAGUE: The Czech director Ondřej Hudeček, who won the Special Jury Prize for Best Direction at the Sundance Film Festival for his short film Peacock / Furiant in 2016, is currently in production with his debut feature Little Thief / Poberta. This Czech/Slovak coproduction will premiere in the summer of 2025.

RIGA: Latvian production company Mima Films is currently in mid-production with Alise Zariņa’s sophomore feature Impressions / Nospiedumi, in which the seemingly dark topics of slow death, fear of abandonment, emotional estrangement and the contempt some feel for their parents are dealt with through the prism of humour and humanity.

BUCHAREST: Igor Cobileanski’s fourth feature film Comatogen has finished editing and will soon enter sound design, sound mixing and colorisation. The film is a coproduction between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, supported by the film centres of both countries.

SOFIA: Bulgarian director/producer Svetoslav Draganov is in postproduction with his new documentary Snescha and Franz, a universal story about the call of freedom vs. the family life, based on the relationship between his aunt and his uncle.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Vladimir Tagić, known for popular TV series Morning Changes Everything / Jutro će promeniti sve and Children of Evil / Deca zla, is currently shooting his debut feature Yugo Florida. The film is a coproduction between Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia and Bulgaria.

TALLINN: The filming for Estonian feature Long Papers will wrap on 31 December 2023. This is the sophomore feature of the new generation filmmakers Meel Paliale (director and scriptwriter) and Urmet Piiling (scriptwriter), who made a colourful lo-fi splash with their debut feature Tree of Eternal Love / Kiik, kirves ja igavese armastuse puu, produced by Tallifornia, in 2021.

SOFIA: The Bulgarian director Hristo Simeonov is currently in production with his debut feature My Father’s Shoes, which is a Bulgarian/French coproduction supported by the Bulgarian National Film Center.

RIGA: Latvian directors Staņislavs Tokalovs and Juris Kursietis are currently in postproduction with their eight-episode series Soviet Jeans / Padomju džinsi, a dramedy set in 1979 Soviet Latvia, the time of the fiercest propaganda against Western culture.

BUDAPEST: The filming of Borbála Nagy's debut feature The Origin of the World / A világ eredete started recently and will have a total of 30 shooting days in Hungary, Germany and France.
