BELGRADE: The filming of the 10-episode biopic Pupin directed by Danilo Bećković is underway on various locations throughout Serbia, with an international cast. The Radio Television of Serbia is producing.

BELGRADE: The first edition of the Balkan Film Directing Festival will be held 10 – 14 June 2025 in three venues in the very heart of the Serbian capital: the MTS Hall, Youth Hall Belgrade and Student Cultural Centre.

BELGRADE: London-based company Jinga Films has sold Serbian feature Sword of Vengeance by Nemanja Ćeranić to several territories including Japan, UK, Korea and Germany. Genre-wise this is a highly atypical film for the Serbian contemporary cinema, and it could be described as a blend of epic, fantasy, action and adventure.

BELGRADE: The Serbian music biopic feature Sunday / Nedelja, directed by Nemanja Ćeranić and produced by Telekom Srbija and Pelicula Production, strongly topped the 2024 charts in Serbia with 347,622 admissions.

BELGRADE: Serbian film director and producer Milan Todorović is currently in production with his third feature film. Described by its director as “a real teenage film that we haven't seen in years”, Haiduk in Belgrade is the first film adaptation of Gradimir Stojković’s evergreen bestseller book of the same title for children and the young.

BELGRADE: The Athens-based company Heretic has picked-up Serbian director Stefan Đorđević’s debut feature Wind, Talk to Me / Vetre, pričaj. This coproduction between Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia was acquired before its world premiere in the Tiger Competition of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (30 January – 9 February 2025).

BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia distributed 1,255,779 EUR / 147 m RSD as production grants to four feature film projects. The biggest amount of 358,813 EUR / 42 m RSD went to Jeza directed by Siniša Cvetić.

BELGRADE: Legendary Serbian and Yugoslav cinema filmmaker Želimir Žilnik’s latest feature Eighty Plus / Restitucija, ili, san i java stare garde has been acquired by US-based sales agent EXPOBLVD LLC ahead of its world premiere in the Forum section of the Berlin International Film Festival (13 – 23 February 2025).The film is a coproduction between Serbia and Slovenia.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian director Nemanja Ćeranić, known for his crime drama Loan Shark / Lihvar and biopic Sunday / Nedelja, is already shooting his fourth feature, Hand of Justice / Ruka pravde, co-directed by Nebojša Pajkić.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian director Luka Mihailović has recently begun postproduction of his sophomore feature, the independent production The Claim. His debut feature Indigo Crystal had nearly 120,000 admissions in 2023 and landed seventh in the annual box office charts.
