BRATISLAVA: Ten titles have been selected for Meeting Point Europe, the main competition of the 20th IFF Cinematik Piešťany, which will take place in the Slovak spa city of Piešt'any from 10 to 15 September 2025. Another seven films will compete in the Cinematik.doc – Slovak Documentary Competition.
BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Juraj Štepka has started production on his historical drama General Golian / Generál Golian, which is based on the true story of Ján Golian, one of the main organisers and commanders during the Slovak National Uprising.
BRATISLAVA: Peter Bebjak’s biopic Duchoň ranks first in the Slovak charts after its opening weekend. The Slovak/Czech coproduction left behind DreamWorks animated film The Bad Guys 2 and Marvel´s franchise The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
BRATISLAVA: The acclaimed Slovak director Jonáš Karásek is finishing production on his new sports comedy Dream Team. The film is inspired by a true story from the Paralympics in Sydney 2000.
BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Gregor Valentovič is wrapping up the filming on his Slovak/Czech coproduction Twenty-seven / Dvadsaťsedem, a debut feature supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund and the Czech Film Fund.
BRATISLAVA: In his Slovak/Czech creative documentary Better Go Mad in the Wild, winner of the Grand Prize-Crystal Globe at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Miro Remo wanted to share with us, the audience, his experience of this extraordinary world. Sadly, one of his two protagonists died after the festival.
KOŠICE: Georgi M. Unkovski’s DJ Ahmet, a coproduction between North Macedonia, Czech Republic, Serbia and Croatia, won Blue Angels for best film, director and actor in the International Competition of the 31st Art Film Fest.The festival took place in Košice, Slovakia 20 – 27 June 2025.

BRATISLAVA: New full-length projects by Marek Ťapák, Tomáš Jančo and Pavol Barabáš received production support in the first and second calls for 2025 grants announced by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund.
BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Peter Pokorný has entered production with Access Denied to Lasica / Lasicovi vstup zakázaný, a documentary about the Slovak comedy icon Milan Lasica (1940-2021), based on a script written by his daughter, writer/screenwriter Hana Lasicová.
