BRATISLAVA: Ten Slovak long films (six feature films, three documentaries and one animated film), as well as five short films, which were all nominated for the Sun in a Net Awards, will be screened at the 11th edition of the Slovak Film Week. The annual showcase of domestic titles is taking place from 22 to 27 April 2025 at the Lumière Cinema in Bratislava.

BRATISLAVA: The Czech/Slovak drama Waves by Jiří Mádl won in nine categories (from 14 nominations) including Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Script and Best Leading Actor at the Sun in a Net Awards, held at the Slovak Radio Building in Bratislava on 16 April 2025. The Hungarian Dressmaker by Iveta Grófová won five awards out of 12 nominations.

BRATISLAVA: Sixteen projects were showcased at the Works in Progress session during Bratislava Industry Days at the 32nd International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava (19 - 25 March 2025).

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak short film Confession by Rebeka Bizubová was awarded Best Film in the Short Films section, while Hungarian Lesson Learned / Fekete pont by Bálint Szimler was awarded Best Film in the Long Films section of the In the Heart of Europe Competition at the 32nd International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava (19-25 March 2025).

BRATISLAVA: The 32nd International Film Festival Febiofest Bratislava has announced the programme of its 32nd edition that will take place 19 – 25 March 2025.

BRATISLAVA: The Czech/Slovak drama Waves by Jiří Mádl leads the 14th Sun in a Net Awards with 14 nominations, closely followed by Slovak/Hungarian/Czech The Hungarian Dressmaker by Iveta Grófová with 12 nominations. The awards will be announced on 16 April 2025.

BRATISLAVA: The highly anticipated sequel about the infamous Slovak underworld boss Černák has become a box office sensation in Slovakia. The film directed by Jakub Kroner shattered the historical records with 133,406 admissions and 1,060,787 EUR gross during its opening weekend.

BRATISLAVA: The acclaimed Slovak director Marko Škop is currently in production with his psychological drama Anna. His third feature film, which is a Slovak/Czech coproduction, tells the story of a 30-year-old neurologist, who lives in one apartment with her mother.

BRATISLAVA: The 18th edition of the Slovak Queer Film Festival is screening more than 30 feature-length films, as well as over 30 short films from 25 countries. The festival takes place at the Lumiѐre Cinema and Kino Film Europe in Bratislava till 26 November 2024.

BRATISLAVA: Ivan Ostrochovský and Pavol Pekarčík were awarded the main prize for directing Photophobia / Svetloplachosť at the 35th edition of the IGRIC Awards held in Bratislava on 22 September 2024. These are the oldest film prizes in Slovakia and one of the two important national film awards in the country, alongside the Sun in a Net Awards.
