RIJEKA: The crew of the Serbian TV series South Wind / Južni Vetar, created and directed by Miloš Avramović, produced by Serbia’s Archangel Studios and Režim Beograd, and coproduced by Croatia's Telefilm for the Serbian Radiotelevision, has arrived in the Kvarner region of Croatia.

VILNIUS: Film director Lina Lūžytė and philosopher & film director Nerijus Milerius make their debut as a directors duo with feature drama Jōhatsu, which is currently shooting as a Lithuanian/Latvian/French coproduction. Uljana Kim is producing.

SKOPJE: Macedonian production company OXO released the first season of the sitcom House Arrest / Kukjenpritvor directed by Vardan Tozija. The first episode of the spin-off of the popular TV series Prespav, produced by OXO, aired on MRT1 and the VoD platform Gley.mk on 19 September 2022.

SOFIA: Award-winning Bulgarian director Milko Lazarov is shooting his third feature film The Herd, an allegory on the subject of mass xenophobia. Bulgaria’s Red Carpet, Germany’s 42film and Luxembourg’s Amour Fou are coproducing.

BRATISLAVA:  The first part of The Strangers, the new trilogy directed by Renny Harlin and produced by Lionsgate, has started production in Slovakia. Rastislav Kuril´s Frame film SK s.r.o. is servicing the production in Slovakia. The producers registered for the 33% cash rebate at the Slovak Audiovisual Fund in June 2022.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Marko Đorđević teamed up with his collaborators from his successful debut feature My Morning Laughter / Moj jutarnji smeh and he is currently shooting That’s It for Today / Za danas toliko. The filming of this 100% Serbian coproduction is expected to wrap by the end of September 2022.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Viera Čákanyová is finishing postproduction on her documentary essay Notes from Eremocene / Poznámky z Eremocénu. The film is a Slovak/Czech coproduction.

RIGA: The historical drama In the Land That Sings / Zeme, kas dzied directed by Māris Martinsons has just wrapped the third stage of shooting in Latvia. The film is a Latvian/Estonian coproduction.

BELGRADE: The acclaimed Serbian actress Mirjana Karanović started shooting her sophomore feature as a director on 29 August 2022. Mother Mara / Majka Mara is a coproduction between Serbia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland.

SOFIA: The award-winning Bulgarian directorial duo Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov have started shooting their darkish tragicomedy Triumph, coproduced by Bulgaria’s Abraxas Film and Greece’s Graal Films. Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova was announced as the lead together with Julian Kostov.

PRAGUE: Czech director/producer Viktor Tauš is currently in production with his feature drama American Chick / Amerikanka, which is a Czech/Slovak/Swiss coproduction estimated for completion in 2023.

SOFIA: The Veteran Bulgarian director Georgi Djulgerov is currently in postproduction with his period drama Memoir of a Betrayal, dedicated to the legendary 19th century anti-Ottoman revolutionary Georgi Benkovski. Known for his passionate interest in Bulgarian history and Zahari Stoyanov’s Memoirs of the Bulgarian Uprisings (1870–1876), Djulgerov focuses the narrative on some of the author’s key testimonies. The film is a local coproduction between the Bulgarian National Television and Borough Film.

PRAGUE: Czech director/producer Matěj Chlupáček is currently in postproduction with his mystery/detective feature film We Have Never Been Modern / Úsvit. The film is a Czech/Slovak coproduction inspired by the true stories of intersex people in the 1930s.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Adrian Voicu is currently in postproduction with his first feature film Capturing Sami / Captura, which is produced by Axel Film, the company behind Immaculate by Monica Stan and George Chiper-Lillemark, winner of the Best Debut Film Award in Venice 2021. The Bulgarian company Contrast Films is coproducing.

BELGRADE: The Serbian political drama series Sabre / Sablja, created and directed by Goran Stanković and Vladimir Tagić, is the first ever international coproduction to benefit from new TV drama fund launched by the Bulgarian National Film Center.

WARSAW: Polish channel Polsat is in preparation with Sługa Narodu, a local remake after the Ukrainian series Servant of the People starring the Ukrainian then president to be, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The series is directed by Maciej Bieliński.
